Up: Game 1  Up: Game 1 Outline

A chance to escape presents itself

You spot the Corellian Jewel directly above you. The Jewel is shaped much like Han Solo's Millennium Falcon, except that the Jewel is a bit smaller and is not in the Y-T configuration that you remember from the "Star Wars" movies. It does not look like a powerful ship, but you hope that its less-than-pristine condition is merely a deception. After all, Solo's Falcon looked like a piece of junk, but it turned out to be pretty tough to stop.

The Jewel is staying on course and not attempting to intercept the TIE fighters. You hit the comlink switch frantically as another laser blast jars you from behind. "Corellian Jewel, what are you waiting for?"

"Just a moment!" the woman's voice hisses at you, leaving you to continue trying to stay alive. You get the impression that she is carrying on a conversation with someone on another com channel.

Precisely fifteen seconds later, the woman's voice once again crackles through your comlink speaker. "I'm sorry, I cannot help you."

"WHAT?!" you reply in horror. "Okay, I'll pay you 60,000. You want more money, fine. JUST PLEASE HELP ME!!!!"

"Farewell," the woman says. The Corellian Jewel blasts off into hyperspace as you watch helplessly. You curse the woman and pound the control panel in frustration. You say a silent prayer and brace yourself for death as the TIE fighters behind you continue to spray laser fire.

Suddenly, your fighter's navigational system lights up, warning you of . . . something. Maybe the ship is telling you it is on the verge of exploding? No, that is not it. There is something nearby . . . something that might give you a chance to escape. But what is it?
