Up: Game 2  Up: Game 2 Outline

Inch by inch, step by step ...

Sighing, you realize that you're probably much too heavy for the elevator to lift, given that you flattened your car's tires when you weren't even half this big. Besides, some exercise might help you lose some of the flab ... just in case threatening to sit on that idiot salesman doesn't help find a cure.

Shuffling over to the stairwell door, you push the release bar with your projecting flab, slamming the door open. You step forward and wait for the door to close.

And wait.

Blushingly, you realize that the odd pressure on your hindquarters is the door. Your buttocks are still sticking out into the hall. Turning in place, your belly slams shut the door it opened, scraping along the bare concrete walls.

Turning back around to face the stairs, you begin to feel trapped, the constant pressure of the concrete against your distended belly like an inescapable embrace.

Shaking it off, you walk forward to the stairs, lift your foot ... and smack it into the riser. Trying again, you lift your foot as high as you can, leaning against the dangerously creaking balustrade ... but you still stub your toe. The drooping belly that rests solidly against your knees prevents you from lifting your feet high enough to climb the steps!

Stymied, you consider two options:

On the one hand, you could try climbing the steps on all fours. You've heard it's good for the back, after all ... and yours is complaining from overwork ... and the added help of your hands might enable you to climb the steps. But if it doesn't, you'll be lying helplessly on the stairs, unable to lift your own blubber. Plus, what if you become a real hippo again?

On the other hand ... well, opening the door back to the lobby isn't an option. But if you could break it down, the way you did your front door, you could go back and take the elevator. But, you can't help but think, this place isn't wood and plaster, like my house. It's concrete and steel. What happens if I can't break through? Worse, what happens if I do break through and land flat on my snout? I'll be stuck again!

Finally, you come to a decision ...
