Turning Our Attention Elsewhere

His eyes still shut, the boy squirms in his clothing. "I'd better snap him out of his trance," Janine informs you, moving back toward him. As the boy paws at the air, Janine grabs him again by the shoulders.

"Paul," she purrs, "you did it. Paul? Take a look at yourself."

The boy, Paul, opens his eyes and sniffs at the air. His eyes are glassier than before, but otherwise unaltered. He suddenly notices Janine standing before him, and he smiles. Then, returning to his own little world, he tears at his clothes and runs back into another room.

"Pretty impressive," you tell Janine. "What's your secret?"

Janine replies with a coy, mischievous laugh. "You can't possibly expect me to say until I'm done with you, buster!" She grabs one of your fuzzy hands and leads you to the front porch.
