Revelations

Standing up and glancing into the storeroom, you see a small opening to an upstairs room through the ceiling. Although there is no ladder leading up, someone is clearly on the floor above.

Knowing how well normal cats can jump, you figure werecats shouldn't be any different. You crouch down and catapult yourself toward the storeroom ceiling.

As if you were spring-loaded, you effortlessly jump into the room above you. You forgot to take into account just how strong your new cat-legs are, however, as you discover when you hit the upper room's ceiling with a resounding thud, followed immediately by falling flat on your feline face. After a few seconds, the pain subsides, and your vision clears to reveal the stock-cat, Brian, sitting crosslegged on a bed, reading a novel you don't recognize.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I never heard the door chime", apologizes Brian, setting the book down. "Are you alright?"

Upon a closer inspection of you, Brian suddenly realizes just who you are. He stammers loudly as he continues to look you over. "What the heck happened to YOU?!"

Annoyed, you answer him with one word, "Slippers!"

He examines all of your new feline features, much like his own, and scratches the top of his head behind his furry ears. He kneels down behind you, and tugs less than gently on your tail.

"Ow!" you yelp in pain, jumping almost completely across the room.

"Sorry", he tells you, his own tail between his legs. "I just can't believe this happened."

"Stop fidgeting and fix this already! I don't want to be a CAT!" you shout, still slightly annoyed.

"There's nothing I CAN do", he answers at the same volume, "and the old man is off to see someone." Absently, he begins stroking the fur on his lower jaw with his fuzzy fingers, his face seemingly thoughtful.

"Terrific," you groan as you fall to your knees. "Now I'll have to cancel my date with Irene tonight! She's gonna be so upset at me..."

Brian perks his ears up at your words. "Wait a second, the old man was going to see an Irene! She's supposed to be a werecat like me. Come to think of it, he should have been back by now- Hey, WAIT!"

Without a second thought, and without listening any further to Brian, you are out the window, jumping rooftop to rooftop. You have to get to Irene's house, and you hope this is all a strange coincidence.
