Ringing Outside

You reach for the mobile phone before Irene can grasp it with her slim hand.

Then you pass it back to her.

"What...? Aren't you - you...going to hurt me?" Irene stammers. "You're safe with me...," you growl. "Dangerous for you to go back out there..." She slowly nods agreement. "I want...to call my parents... See if they're safe..."

You growl permission. Feeling ravenous, you carefully walk on your lupine legs, to find the rabbit you killed earlier. Meanwhile, Irene rings out on her phone.

Later, when you've licked the plate clean of the last pieces of meat, you look up from the dining table as Irene collapses into the chair next to you, looking pale and shaken. "I spoke to Mom," Irene tells you. "She told me Dad was putting out the garbage earlier. He was set upon by a gang of juvenile werewolves. He got away, and left them to fight over the chicken scraps. He got nipped, but the wound soon healed."

"Let me guess...," you reply.

"Right. Dad called the police - but he couldn't get through. So, having locked up, Mom and Dad retired to bed. Dad felt too energetic to go to sleep, and had a kiss and cuddle with Mom. One thing led to another, and Dad became a real animal in bed. Mom was howling to me on the phone, saying how great she felt, and Dad gave her a love-bite. She was urging me to find a nice young man to bite and settle down with."

"What about your mate at the apartment," you ask, sighing.

"I rang her, too. There was no answer at first - then she got to the phone. Inga apologised for taking so long - she'd not long finished getting changed. She was gushing about the new fur coat her girlfriend had just given her."

"Hold on. I remember you saying Inga's into animal rights..."

"Exactly. And before I hung up, Inga was saying that she didn't like cats before. But the stray her friend had killed for her was tasty..." Irene sobs openly. "Oh, god..."

You can't help yourself. You go over to her, and Irene hugs you again. You paw her softly, wanting nothing more than to protect her and fill her heart with your love.

Finally, Irene reaches out and feels your furry face. She gazes into your yellow eyes and says...
