Victory!

You smile, displaying your fangs. "My Queen...- Irene - I would be honoured to be your Consort in all things. I accept."

Irene smiles back. "Then please accept the power I will share with you." And, concentrating, Irene causes a mist of energy to emanate from her lupine body. It floods into your being, and your mind becomes clear.

"Irene!" You embrace her, and nip at her ear. The two of you muzzle each other, sharing your scents - then you both laugh in relief. Meanwhile, Frederica and the other wolf people still present bow to you, and proclaim you as their King!

"Irene - what I did to you..., it was the only way to save everyone," you explain.

"I know, Colin - your thoughts were transferred to me, when you gifted me with your bite. And now, I feel great!"

"So do I! But we're no longer human. We never can be again..."

"My days as a werewolf slayer are over, too, I guess..." Irene rubs your furry back, and grins. "I think we'll both get used to this..."

"Have we...caused...the extinction of the human race?" you ask worriedly.

Irene frowns. Finding her mobile phone from the remains of her trousers, she calls the Council of Light. Minutes later, she ends the call and smiles. "Their containment spell worked! They've checked the news - only those in the city were affected by the ritual's completion. The rest of the country - and the world - is as it should be. A world of humans."

"Yes!!" You punch the air, in triumph. "What about the Council?"

"They, too, acknowledge me as Queen of the pack," Irene sighs, then her lips turn upward. "But they are servants to their King as well, Colin."

You take this all in. "Queen Irene and King Colin...? I'm not sure...," you joke.

"You're right - we need more suitable names for our new lives..." Irene and you hold each other's paw, and walk away from Fred's home. Your servants follow, as you begin to take a tour of your new kingdom. The dawn sunlight feels good on your fur.

Irene stops just once - to wolf down the last pork pie from her satchel.
