Breaking the Mould

Her eyes narrow, and an evil smile flashes over her face. "Right then, two can play THIS game, Mr. 'I love being a hippo': let's see how you like THIS!"

A jet of emerald light flares from her hand and lashes out at you. You have the sudden dizzying feeling of the whole universe revolving, and revolving around YOU, before you fall to the ground. You look down at yourself, horrified that you're about to lose the form you secretly craved to be all these years. Nothing seems to be happening. You sit up, then stand, expecting at any second to go through another metamorphosis. You feel a gurgle. Here it comes ...

Suddenly, your stomach bulges out even more, rounding and sagging. The reamins of your jeans burst off. Every part of your body seems to expand slightly with fat, every feature getting soft and pillowed. You also feel your insides shift around, and your bone structure changing slightly. You suddenly feel a lot more mobile. The witch beckons, and a pair of werecats bring over a full length mirror. You see your form changing, plumping, altering. When it subsides, you're still a hippotaur, but somehow... different. And your clothes have reappeared, now mysteriously enlarge to fit you, if a little snug at the waist.

"What... what did you do to me?"

The witch smirks triumphantly. "Oh, just made your new form completely impervious to magic. Since you so wanted to be a hippo, I've done you a favour. I used a spell to negate my previous one, but at the same time to release your hippo form from the spellcasting. So now the universe now implicitly believes that you are meant to be a hippotaur." For a moment, she frowns. "The changes weren't expected. Probably reality making things a little more ... believable." Her unholy glee returns. "Oh, and your new form is completely impervious to magic, as a result. Now you'll never be able to change into anything else. You're stuck forever!" Her shrill, evil cackles crescendo to the ceiling.

Your bellowed laughter of delight and amazement easily drowns hers out, though. You actually dance a jig on the spot, shaking the floor. The witch subsides, slow disbelief and horror rising on her face. "You mean you DID want to be a hippo?" You nod, still chortling convulsively. The witch stares, and then shrieks in rage and frustration.
