Washed up?

You descend the staircase. Behind you, Roger is having trouble fitting through the door. You are nearly at the bottom by the time he pops through and tumbles down the stairs. He knocks into you and you both end up in a heap at the bottom. Suddenly the stairway ceiling gives way, cutting off the stairs. Looking up, you both see a small hatchway in the ceiling. Suddenly, you're both drenched by a gush of water flowing in. The room you are in is apparently below the surface of the moat, for water is flowing in through a hole in the wall. "I hate water!" cries Roger as the room starts to fill. He rushes up the ladder and tries to squeeze through the hatchway... but ends up stuck fast!
