On The Road Again...

You try to get that stupid song out of your head as you start walking on down the road.

Well, this has thoroughly ruined your day. Who knows where you are, when you are, how you got here, how you're going to get home, and how the heck you're going to get that money!!

You find yourself thinking about the money more than anything.

The road's not being very kind to you... despite the fact that you're wearing sandals, you're still stepping on nearly every rock in the eastern hemisphere, it seems.

Maybe if I find a horse, things'll be easier on my feet, you think.

Wait a second, you don't know how to ride a horse, either.

The sun sets rather quickly, but you just keep on walking, grumbling to yourself. After a while, you just get too tired, then sit down on a rock overlooking a small pool shrouded by trees. You sigh, rubbing your aching feet, then look up at the night sky, amazed by the amount of stars in the sky.

Wow... you think. No wonder ancient peoples worshipped the stars... what a view!!

You sigh, then something below you catches your eye.

You find that you're wearing a ring on your right hand, a glossy black ring that's reflecting the starlight.

Oh, wow, that's pretty, you think to yourself, figuring that you must have had it transported onto your finger when you swept back into the past... dang, how ARE you going to get home?!

A rather obvious idea rises up, and you almost kick yourself for it.

Duh!! Go back and sleep in that cave again, you moron!!

Mentally kicking yourself, you stand up, then kneel down on the rock, cupping your hands to get a drink of water, even though you're really not experienced with drinking from a pond.

The water doesn't taste as bad as you thought it would, and you're going to need to be hydrated enough to get back to that cave, you reason.

You dip your hands in the pool again for another drink of water, then frown. There's something a little odd with your reflection. It's not clear in the moonlight, but it looks as though something rather large is sticking out your hair.

Probably a leaf, you think, then raise a hand to brush it aside.

What you encounter isn't a leaf.

Panic slowly starting to billow in your stomach, you let your fingers play over the object on your head. Whatever it is, it's warm...it's got something like hair on it...it bends easy...and whatever it is, it's attatched.

You swallow, then quickly look back down at your reflection in the pool. Before, your interference had put ripples in the water, foiling a good look. Now you wish you hadn't got one.

Where your ears were, are now two triangular, dog-like ones, perked up and open, covered in fur, and, most importants, attatched to your head.

You forget your other predicaments for a moment. All that matters right now is screaming.
