A Lead to Follow

You open the door and call out for Scott, receiving no response. Worried, you enter to search for him, calling out to him as you go. You search the entire house, from the basement to the attic, in every room, and even in every closet. As extensive as your search is, though, you find no trace of Scott. The house is completely empty. Disappointed and irritated, you decide to head back to the agency headquarters. Yet as you are about to head back out, you notice an envelope with your name on it taped to the inside of the front door. Curious, you take it down and examine it, idly wondering how it got there, before finally deciding that something like this should best be handled while safe within the agency.

So in less than three hours, you are again seated at a table with the small group of agents who had been handling your case. The unidentified envelope sits on the center of the table. "I couldn't find Scott anywhere," you explain, "but as I was leaving I found this taped to the back of the door. It's addressed to me, but with something like this I didn't think I should handle it myself." One of the agents, an older, balding man with a cane, commends you on your responsible decision and gives you the go-ahead to open the envelope. You do so cautiously, finding that it contains a small photograph and a handheld tape recorder with a message already recorded. At a nod from the older man, you play the tape.

"Greetings, young fox-girl," says the distorted, unidentifiable voice that issues forth from the recorder. "I knew this message would reach you eventually. Listen well to what I say, for there is much to do and not much time to do it in. What has happened to you is merely the tip of the iceberg. I cannot reveal the details, but there is more at stake here than you know. Look at the photo. The man you see is named Cyrus Addams. Cyrus is a mighty psychic, with powerful psychokinetic and extrasensory abilities. You will want Cyrus on your side if you wish to win against this threat. It will be up to you to find Cyrus and forge the alliance with him. The future rests with you, young fox-girl..."

Understandably, you are quite confused (and a little freaked out) by this message addressed directly at you. Who was that person? What were they trying to warn you about? How did they know about your predicament? For that matter, how did they know about what they told you in their message? Somehow, you know that this is something to be taken very seriously.

Forcing aside your nervousness, you examine the photo of Cyrus more closely. It depicts a young man in his early 20's with pale skin, short messy black hair, and light -yet hard- cyan eyes. He wears a light blue shirt, a black biker jacket, tan fingerless gloves, and dark brown pants. Even from the picture, you can almost sense an air of power about him.

You turn your attention back towards the group of agents, who had been discussing the situation while you were lost in thought. Your father explains to you that the agency has agreed to follow through on this lead, however due to suspicions, not many agents want to go through with it. In the end, only you, your father, and two other agents are willing to do so.

Five hours later, your helicopter transport touches down just outside what is presumably Cyrus' house. Surprisingly, locating the supposed psychic had been rather easy, thanks to the agency's computer database. By scanning in the picture and cross-referencing the name, the agency computers were able to pinpoint Cyrus' location with relative ease. But something tells you that locating him will be the only easy part. You steel yourself and knock on the door...
