Through the shafts

The large kangaroo's huge feet slam down either side of you, its right foot missing you by millimeters. The roo doesn't notice you and continues hopping along.

Now that the danger has passed, you slowly get up and get another stroke of luck. On the wall, at your level is an open air vent with a loose cover. You manage to move it enough to allow yourself to squeeze through.

As you scurry along the air vent you think about the kangaroo. Despite being marsupial in shape, with a roo's head, legs, feet and tail, it's chest, posture, hands and arms looked almost human...

Turning a corner, you come to a another loose vent at ground level. What you see beyond it makes you stop in your tracks...
