The Old Man

You open your eyes. The harsh light of the midday sun beats down on you through the leafy branches of the numerous trees that surround you. By instinct, you look around for the squirrels. When you didn't find any, you give a sigh of relief.

You stand up and examine yourself. You are totally unscathed, even though you could swear that the squirrels had bitten you in many places.

"If you're wondering, I saved you." You jump to the sudden voice and spin around. A man in sitting on a grey stone. He appears to be very old, the way his skin is wrinkled. Immediatly, you feel a wave of gratitude, but the feeling is quickly destroyed when the unresistable question of curiosity pops into your head, and you blurt out:

"Why?"

The old man chuckles, and you begin to feel uncomfortable. The wood begin to become hazy, as if a fog is settling in.

"Sit." He said with a wave of his hand. You immediatly fall to your bottom, even though you did not try to do it.

"Who are you?" You ask as bravely as you can, though your voice is laced with obvious fear. You try to stand, but an invisible force pushes you down.

"Do not fight it," he said. He snapped his fingers and a small cup appeared in midair in front of him. Your eyes widen in fear. "After all, I did save you." He took the cup and drank from it. I stopped struggling.

"Who are you?" You ask again.

"My name is not important," the man said. "As for why I brought you here, that is to be revealed." He took a sip from his cup. "I am, what some may call, a sorcerer." You gulp in fear. "To my people, I am somewhat of a scientist. And you..." he said, looking at you. "...you are my test subject."

You nearly pass out with fear. "What are you going to do to me?" You ask in a quavering, small voice.

The man laughed. "Oh, I like to surprise my subjects." His placeed his hand on your forehead. Suddenly you feel a wave of nausea, and the man removes his hand. "Have fun..." he said, and in a wisp of smoke, dissapeared.
