Scorpion-man

"Crap," you mutter, trying unsuccessfully to ignore the scraping, clacking sound of mandibles that accompanies your voice. You look down at your four pincer-tipped arms. Realizing that the mangled shotgun is useless to you now (in more ways than one), you simply toss it aside into the sand.

Loki has certainly done a thorough job on you. Two legs with strangely clawed feet inside your shoes, four arms with pincers, a long segmented tail, antennae, and a chitinous exoskeleton that covers your entire body. However, at least Loki was right about one thing; you're not being bothered by the heat. Given the cost of that relief, though, you'd almost rather be suffering.

Knowing that you can't just stand here forever, you raise a pincer to shield your eyes somewhat and turn in a slow circle, surveying your surroundings. Blazing hot sand, wavering in the heat of day, is all that meets your gaze. You think you can make out something reflective in the distance, though. To the west, if you're reading the position of the sun correctly. It might be a sign of water, or even civilization ... or it might just be a discarded beer bottle for all you know. But it's as good a direction as any, and so you start out, feet dragging through the sand as your heavy tail sways behind you, threatening to throw your balance off with every step.
