Your progress is steady but slow. Take a step. Rest. Take a step. Rest. Why did they have to put the complaints department on the top floor?
A dozen steps past the third floor, you see a slim, red-haired woman in a white smock enter the stairwell. She takes a few brisk steps up the stairs before she notices you blocking her way. With a gasp of surprise, she comes to an abrupt halt. The two of you consider each other for a few moments.
"I'm going to be here for a while," you offer apologetically. "Maybe you should take the elevator."
"Oh, I'm going up just one floor," the redhead answers brightly. "Besides," she adds cryptically, "I'm not in a hurry any more."
With an embarrassed sigh, you continue your slow upward progress. Take a step. Rest. Take a step. Rest.
You and the woman are face to face for several minutes, and you begin to make small talk.
