Best Efforts

The three of you have some time, so you ride on a few attractions, play a few games, laughing it up and having a good time. But eventually the time of the contest rolls around and you head to the stage where the contestants are gathering. Albert takes a seat at the end, and is soon joined by 3 others. Two look average, maybe a bit overweight, the normal, work behind a desk type, but the last contestant looks like someone who makes eating contests his profession of choice, a boar dressed in overalls and easily as fat as Albert is muscular. He looks at the competition, and gives a confident snort.

"Do you think Albert has a chance?" you ask Fred.

"No," says Fred, "But it's going to be hilarious watching him try." He then cups his hands and gives a shout, "Don't let him intimidate you Albert, you got this!" he yells encouragingly. "Seriously, though, he doesn't stand a chance." He says to you.

Albert is eyeing the Boar, looking worried at his prospects, though he perks up a little at Fred's yell. Wanting to get in on the action you yell, "Yeah Albert, just think of it as a workout for your mouth!" And Albert looks a little more confident.

The announcer goes over the rules as pies are piled upon the table. The person who eats the most pies in 5 minutes is the winner, those who pass out, throw up, or anything to that effect are eliminated. Then he counts down, the competitors get ready, and a buzzer sounds the beginning of the competition. All four start off strong, burying their faces in pie. Well, two of them do, the two competitors in the middle just scarf it down. Albert is Croc jaw prevents him from doing likewise, rather, he just snaps it up, it easily fitting without much effort. The Boar on the other hand, just picks it up, and devours the entire thing in two bites, not even losing a crumb in his pacing, then easily takes the next and does the same.

After about 4 pies, the two competitors in the middle look stuffed, one actually gets up and runs in the direction of the restroom, the crowd cheering. The second continues, but his pace has slowed, putting small portions in his mouth as he attempts to keep going. Albert looks to the Boar, a competitive flash in his eye. Then switches up his strategy, placing three pies in his jaw at a time. The boar actually looks surprised at this, then picks up the pace on his own, even as the crowd cheers at this sudden redoubling of effort.

You and Fred cheer on Albert, but you can see the amount of effort this takes for him. He is a body builder, so this is much more then he is used to, and you see him sweating trying to keep up the case, while the boar is scarfing pies down easily, managing to devour three at around the same pace as Albert even with the jaw size advantage.

Then as you cheer, you suddenly...
