Do Comedians Taste Funny?

You are about to scold Fred a second time when Dr. Lengths returns.

"Well, boys," comes Dr. Lengths' voice from the ceiling, "have you met your supporting actors yet?"

You and Fred exchange nervous glances. "Supporting actors?" you ask innocently.

"Yes, I sent them your way just a few minutes ago," Dr. Lengths responds. "They should be there by now. The first one is my paper boy, Benjamin. I've 'persuaded' him to play the role of Benny the Beagle." At this point Lengths begins muttering under his breath, something about finding his newspaper in the rose bushes once too often. "And the second player," Lengths resumes, "is none other than Dick Van Dyke, the famous comedian. It took some doing, but I've recruited Mr. Van Dyke to play the dogcatcher. Isn't he there yet?"

"Well, ah, Benny's in the closet," you reply as Fred fidgets anxiously. "He's really getting into character."

"Yes, yes," persists Dr. Lengths, "but where is Mr. Van Dyke?"
