Can we try reverse psychology?

As you think about you wonder if you can't just do what seems common sense. "Um... why not just have everyone joke about me for being skinny?" you ask, wonderin why the thought hadn't crossed you sooner. After all, if the ring changes people to match the insults they are making against you, couldn't they reverse it just by making the opposite type of insult?

"If only it was that simple." says the Alpha, "Max, care to explain?" He say, turining the issue over to the local magic expert. "Righteo pup," says Max in a bright sunny tone, "See, ther ring ain't much for reconizing a joke from a real insult, but it's spot on when it comes to sincerity. For instant's, yer a naive little pup fresh from the den!" Max says, and the ring glows. You see as a few of Max's wrinkles seem to iron out, and some of the color returns to his grey fur. "See, now, 'Yer annoyingly handsome and full of vitality'" he says. You look at the ring expecting a glow. Nothing happens. "See, if a person is aware of the effects, and is merely insulting you to take advantage of the effects, it don't work. A person has to be sincerely making a crack at your expense for it to work."

"So everyone would actually have to be cracking joke at me..." you ponder, thinking on the implementations of that. "If that's the case, maybe there is a way to turn this around." You say, as an idea pops into your head. The Alpha looks at you his attention perked, "You have an idea?" he says, a slight tone of intrigue in his voice. "Well... maybe, it may help get everyone's spirit up, and maybe give the impression that were not as bad off as we appear if it doesn't get everyone back on track. Of course that's only if the idea catches on." you say, not sure if it would work. "So, spit it out already!" says Max, just as intrigued, if not more so.

"Well..."
