Meeting Friends...

by Magus T. Fox

Well, Here's my contribution. My first story starring me! :P

Meeting Friends....
by: Magus T. Fox

I woke up late in the afternoon, as usual.  The sun streamed in through the window, and I moved my arm in the way to block it.  I felt strange today, very strange...  As my vision cleared I found out why.

My arm... wasnt an arm, it was a red-furred foreleg with a black paw on the end.  I let out a yelp of surprise and raised my head to look down at myself.

I couldnt believe it!  I was a fox!  I twitched my tail experimentally, and yipped in joy!  But how had this happened?  Why?  I know!  It must have been the mailing list!  There's all sorts of magic flowing across the world from that!

I hastily rolled over onto my paws, and trotted over to the computer terminal.  Pushing the power button with the tip of my muzzle, I awaited as it hummed to life.  I watched patiently as the automatic commands took place.  Several virus scanners worked through my files, and it connected to the internet.

I put both my forepaws on the mouth, and shakily moved it over to the netscape icon, and double-clicked.  I opened the mail window, and anxiously awaited the arrival of the lists mail.  I was starting to get worried, as I scrolled down through the messages and saw nothing about transforming.  Hadnt anyone else transformed?

I nervously plopped down from the chair, and trotted around the corner into the hall.  The coffee maker was bubbling in the kitchen and I saw Michelle fixing lunch.

I went to her feet, looked up and yipped to get her attention.

Looking down, she tsked at me. "No, Vinky. This is my lunch."

I couldnt believe it!  She thought I was vinky! (my adopted fox)  I yipped several more times but it was futile, and she shooed me away.  Ears flat against my head, I trotted into the living room.

The ferrets were playing with the cat, as usual, who lay idly on the coffee table.  I saw Vinky over by the curtains, pawing at them idly, and had a strange urge.

Suddenly, I found myself sniffing at his read, with him doing the same!  I blinked a few times.  What was I doing?!?

I made my way over to Michelle, and she continued to ignore me.  I whimpered and whined, but she only yelled at me.

It finally crept onto me that it was pointless.  I could'nt talk, and she'd probly call animal control anyways...

Slowly, I got up, and padded out the small pet door in the front, and off down the dirt road from my house.  I knew what I had to do, I had to see some friends of mine....

Sneaking past a few people, I traveled through the airport, under the chain fence I squized, and made my way across the runway.  I felt sort of silly, but then again, nobody who could help me lived in Ireland...

A baggage truck went by, and I quickly jumped in back.  I was certainly gratefull that my form was more agile then I used to be, and climbed into a small bag...

I felt the baggage thrown into the plane, and heard the compartments shut.  I curled up in a furred ball, and slowly drifted to sleep, awaiting my arrival, in America....

I awoke as the bag hit the baggage belt with a thud.  I felt it moving along the conveyor belt, and braced myself as someone picked it up.  As they walked, I peeked my head out, and, seeing the coast was clear, hopped out.  I looked up at one of the airport signs.  I was in virginia.

As I trotted down the backroads, I keep wracking my mind, trying to remember an address.  I grin foxishly, looking up at a house.  This was it.  I trotted to the door.

After scratching on the door for a while, A man opened it and looked down.  I yipped several times, and he looked a tad bit confused.  I whimpered as he sighed and closed the door.  Apparently Bob Stein didnt recognize me.

After another long flight, I made my way to ohio.  Surely I could find someone here.  With some more address hunting, I trotted up to another house, one with raccoons swarming the backyard...

I scratched at the door.  No answer.  Looking in the window, I confirmed the fact that Brian Eirik Coe was a tad busy writing on the internet.  I sighed heavily, and continued on...

House after house, state after state, I had no luck with the various list authors.  I was ready to give up hope, but I remembered someone I could count on being there....

Nervously, I trotted up to the door of the house.  I yipped a few times at it, and after several moments it was answered.  I looked up hopefully, and recieved a smile.  I found someone who recognized me, and would now have a place to stay, In washington.

The Enderific.
